JMM Speaking History
JMM Speaking has been in existence for just over 4 years. I formed the business because I wanted to devote my life to giving back to the community. I received burns to 75% of his body in a car crash that took the lives of three of his close friends in 1994. I am able to give back to the community by speaking freely about his personal experiences.
I was told by many that they were motivated because I was such an inspiring motivated person. The thought of sharing my motivation through presentations was planted in my head.
In January 2002 I got involved with Toast Masters International which gave me the able to shape and hone my speaking skills over the next year. That summer I enrolled in the "Mentorship Program" offered by Business Victoria. I then started out on my own as a keynote speaker. I have been a keynote speaker for ICBC, P.A.R.T.Y. Program, Victoria Crime Stoppers, CARS BC, Firefighters Burn Fund Victoria BC and University of Victoria and many other professional organizations in the last four years.
I have quickly becoming an accomplished Professional Keynote speaker in high demand in Schools, Hospitals, Community Centers, and Special Interest Groups.
Why JMM Speaking as a company name?
When I was a teenager, my best friend in life was Jason Murray McKeeman. We use to do everything together. I remember Jason use to pretend he owned different businesses. He had books where he did his paperwork and logos. One of the businesses he pretended to own was "JMM Enterprise". His big dream was to own a successful company become rich. Unfortunately, he died at the age of 18 in a fiery car crash which had taken the lives of two other local teenagers, while leaving me in critical condition in the nearby Burn Unit.
I am keeping his dream alive by naming my business after his. I feels this is one way to keep Jason alive in all of us. We all remember how special he was and how he had impacted our lives even if it was only for a short time. Thank you Jason for being such a wonderful friend as I will always cherish our memories together.
